HOUSE IN RAYNES PARK, LONDON
MW were invited to produce a design for a protective canopy extension over an outdoor deck area to the rear of an Edwardian property in Raynes Park. The house has many distinctive Arts and Crafts style features, as well as an unusual concrete frame for houses of this particular era.
As such, our proposal aims to to be as minimal as possible, providing cover over the outdoor space with openable rooflights, supported by a slender steel frame in white to match the existing light palette of the render and concrete columns. This will allow the structure to blend into its context and not detract from the special quality of the existing rear elevation. The rooflights will be electrically operated and will provide a threshold between the inside and outside spaces of the house. This project is currently at a feasibility stage where several design options are being developed with the client. |
