HOUSE IN ACTON, LONDON
This project aims to transform a small but characterful house for two actors based in the residential neighbourhood of Acton in West London. Although the house was built in the 1970's, the property looks Victorian in style, similar to the terraced houses it backs onto and is unique in appearence in comparison to the rest of the dwellings on the street.
Our proposal will involve a major remodelling of the ground floor with a new wrap around extension taking advantage of the underused alleyway between the existing house and the street facing wall. The aim is to maximise west facing light through new rooflights, whilst making the living spaces feel more generous with better connections to the intimate courtyard garden space. A new staircase will improve access to the first floor and a small bedroom is proposed on the ground floor with access into a secondary smaller courtyard. Finally, a new garage and office space will replace the dilapidated existing garage, providing room for gym equipment and a recording studio with views into the garden through the proposed picture frame window. We have now recieved planning permission for this project and are now in the process of organising the next stages for construction. |
